OziExplorer CE - PND F.A.Q.

Portable Navigation Devices PND's which run the Windows CE O/S

We receive a lot of emails asking if OziExplorerCE can run on these devices. This includes in-dash units.
PND's which use the Windows CE operating system can potentially run OziExplorerCE and other Windows based software.
These devices are supplied with street level auto-routing software.
Provided they run the Windows CE Operating System and are NOT locked, they should be able to run OziExplorerCE.
The demo version of OziExplorerCE can be downloaded from the Download section of the OziExplorerCE page of our website to try it out on your device.
NOTE : Maps are not included with the software, you must source those for your region. For maps for Australia, see the Australian Page of our website.

Usually the generic Chinese navigators running Windows CE O/S are not locked and can run OziExplorerCE.

PND's which are locked will not be suitable for 4WD use running OziExplorerCE unless it can be unlocked.

The information below may be helpful if you own one of these devices.

Please note : Devices which do not use the Windows CE operating system, cannot run Windows based software and so can only use the software and maps they are supplied with.

PND's which are locked and cannot install OziExplorerCE

Some models are locked to prevent software other than what is supplied from being used. There may be information on the internet on how to unlock the device to allow it to run Windows based software and a search usually finds it..

Note : we do not provide assistance in the unlocking of any device or running of OziExplorerCE on them. Check the links below for instructions for unlocking to allow the running of additional software.

Installing OziExplorerCE on PND's

Because these devices most likely do not have ActiveSync you need to download the wince_core_runtime.zip version of OziExplorerCE from the "Download" section on the OziExplorerCE web page and unzip it (on the PC) to a memory card which is then used in the PND.

Tomtom

Cannot run OziExplorerCE or other Windows based software.

Garmin

Other than the iQue M3/M4/M5 which are really PocketPc's no other Garmin can run OziExplorerCE or Windows based software.
